I was finally taking off my winter tires yesterday when this happened. The good news is even with a blown strut my car handles better with the new tires. Oh my god winter tires are so loud.

My grandfather was such a cheap bastard; he would run studded snow tires year round.
He did on every car he owned. Oldsmobile, snow tires. Cadillac, snow tires. Little Hyundai, snow tires. Buick Regal, snow tires.
We used to take his 68 Delta 88 and do burnouts with it because the studs made a terrible screeching noise and shredded the asphault.

Thats not cheap that's just stupid. running winter tires in the summer destroys them. but yeah besides warring them out running winters al year round is so annoying. You might at well run all terrains.

He never drove anywhere, so he just left them on. It was only marginally cheaper.

Would leave those white lines in the asphalt. A friend of mine had em on his Aspen (yes it would peel out).

Just because the dust shield is torn doesn't mean the damper is "blown", as you put it. The important parts of the damper are inside. If it isn't leaking, it's probably still functional.

OH okay. the weird part was when I took the wheel of the strut "let loose" and the suspesion dropped another two inches. That is what actually made me think it was blow. It does make a little noise if you put wight on it, but it;s not noticeable when driving.
